The most beautiful day of your life deserves makeup that feels one hundred percent like you. That's exactly what the bridal trial session is for: the appointment where we develop and refine your wedding look together β long before the big day. Here's how a trial works and how to get the most out of it.
What is a bridal makeup trial β and why is it worth it?
At the trial we test your wedding look calmly and under real conditions, so there are no surprises on the day:
- Certainty instead of guesswork: you know exactly how you'll look β and feel comfortable all day.
- Products matched to your skin: we test foundation, colors and techniques on your actual skin, not on paper.
- A timeline that fits: after the trial we know how long your look takes β and plan the wedding day accordingly.
The right timing for your trial
6 to 8 weeks before the wedding is ideal. It leaves room for adjustments while your skin, hair and dress are already close to their final form. Too early and your style or complexion may change; too late and there's no room for fine-tuning. For destination weddings I recommend combining the trial with another trip.
How to prepare
What to bring
- Inspiration pictures: screenshots are perfectly fine β three to five looks you love say more than any description.
- A top with a neckline similar to your wedding dress so makeup and dΓ©colletΓ© harmonize.
- Your favorite products, in case you love certain textures or need to avoid specific ingredients.
- Hair down and dry, if we're combining hairstyling.
Prepping your skin
- Hydrate consistently in the days before β drinking enough water helps more than any cream.
- Don't try new skincare products β your skin should be calm and balanced.
- Gentle exfoliation two to three days before, never on the same day.
What happens during the appointment
- An in-depth conversation: we discuss your dress, the venue, the style of the wedding and your wishes.
- Skin analysis and color consultation: which textures last on your skin? Which colors make you glow?
- Step-by-step building of the look: you see every step and can give feedback at any time.
- Fine-tuning together: stronger, softer, more lashes β we refine until you love it.
- Photos in daylight: so we see how the look translates on camera β crucial for your wedding photos.
Wear the look for the rest of the day after the trial and look at yourself in different light β by the window, in warm living-room light. When we review the photos together, we'll see exactly what sits perfectly and where to fine-tune.
The most important questions for your makeup artist
- Will the makeup last through outdoor photos and changing weather?
- Which products do you use on sensitive or allergy-prone skin?
- Do you come to our venue β and when do we start on the wedding day?
- What's in the touch-up kit I should have with me?
- Can bridesmaids or mothers be booked along?
After the trial
We document the look: products used, colors, techniques and your wishes. On the wedding day we know exactly what to do β you don't have to explain anything and can simply enjoy the morning. If you want to change anything after the trial, that's what it was for.
